Beyond The Blog

Where it all began…

Interviewer: ‘Today we are here with Rahul Sondhi, the CEO of Utility Cloud Live. So, Rahul, I am pleased that we are here and you will be able to tell us more about the company and your passion about the industry. How long have you been in the industry and how did you get the first idea of Utility Cloud Live?’

Rahul: Hello, everyone, I am pleased to be here and share these things with you all the people reading this blog. I have been working for so long in the industry, that I lost the count already. At a certain point, I have decided to go out in the business world on my own. Most of the people don’t like to go out of their comfort zone, because they are taking huge risk and it’s scary. It definitely is, but I wanted to chase my dream and to fight for it, because now, the energy market is so competitive, that you need to be ready to give all your heart for what you believe in and what you want to achieve. The idea for Utility Cloud Live came when I was still working for another company. I started asking myself how I can create a platform, where people would be able to be energy experts, where they will find the best solutions for their businesses and so on…the story began!

Interviewer: ‘That’s really impressive! What do you think makes Utility Cloud Live different?’

Rahul: ‘I was able to create a community with people that believe in themselves, they are confident and their knowledge is getting higher every day. We, as a company, empower businesses to be their own energy manager. The platform covers every aspect of energy from brown and green procurement to utility management.’

Interviewer: ‘And where do you see the company in the future?’

Rahul: ‘I definitely see a bright future for Utility Cloud Live. I am thinking of Nasdaq hopefully, which is the American stock exchange market, based in New York. We don’t have a limit, as we currently operate in the UK, US, India, and Africa. Another thing is that we keep up with all trends, so when systems are changing, old models are no longer working. Therefore, in the future, with all rising prices, we want to create the biggest energy eco system and connect it internationally. Also, talking about trends, an interesting feature that we have and we will continue to develop is working with block chain technology.’

Interviewer: ‘That is some hell of a plan! You and your employees definitely believe in something. What, as a small community, is your main believe?’

Rahul: ‘What I can see is that everyone is empowering each other. Everyone in our company is their own manager, giving them the freedom to be more creative. What they all share is that believe in start-ups and prefer to be one of the reasons why a company is getting successful, rather than working in a big company, where they will be just part of the matrix.’

Interviewer: ‘Said of all that, do you think people need to have more knowledge on what is happening with the world and where the climate change is taking us?’

Rahul: ‘I think it’s all within the mind-set. When people are leaving their rubbish or not recycling, when they continue to invest in diesel and petrol cars, instead of electric, I can continue with the examples. The point is that they leave all of this to their children and their grandchildren, and so on. We need to think about the generations coming after us, in a way, where they can live a better life and have a better future than ours.’

Interviewer: ‘What day to day advice will you give the people that want to do a change?’

Rahul: ‘Little things matter. So, I will advise them to recycle. If they can walk to work, rather than drive, please do walk. Put more plants in your garden or on your balcony. Educate yourselves more on what our day to day activities are causing to the planet.’

Interviewer: ‘Any final words?’

Rahul: ‘Climate crisis is real. It already has an impact on the nature and people’s health. Believe in technology, because that is the future and every new technology is designed in a way, which works towards helping the planet to recover.’

Interviewer: ‘Thank you, Rahul, for your time. Wish you and Utility Cloud Live many successful years in the industry.’
